We are a family that have been expecting our second child for over four years now. We started the adoption process in the spring of 2006, submitted our paperwork to China in September of 2006 and have been waiting patiently for a child since. We finally we got our referral and plan to have the process completed and travel to China this coming spring!

Making it all legal and stuff

The Harmonious Period (Monday at 2:20pm until today at 9:30ish am) is over.
We answered the questions, took the official PRC governmental picture and signed a bunch of documents in Chinese. She is ours and there are no givebacks.

If it is possible, she has become more adorable today. She smiles and laughs, she hasn't cried at all and she even gave me hugs and fell asleep on my shoulder while I was getting some takeout for our lunch.

I know you all come here just to see what we eat, so today was the hotel breakfast buffet where I had a great breakfast of Congee with Kimchee, a bowl of Chinese noodles, dumplings and mushrooms and then some pot stickers, yogurt and coffee. I did say this was breakfast.

Beatrix had congee which made her soooo happy. Then she ate some of my dumplings and
potstickers, several pieces of bread (she loooves the loaves) and noodles.

Lunch was from the local food restaurant across the street. We had our guide "Jason" or
der for us because they didn't speak any English and I was having a tough time conveying that I was there to order food and not to change the light bulbs. "Jason" ordered us some fried rice, fried noodles, Chinese broccoli and sweet and sour pork. it was all fantastic and the sweet & sour was much different than in the US. It was much less sweet. It was more balanced in the sweet v. sour. I went over to get the food to bring back and took Beatrix with me. She was very cute there and the staff was coming over to read the tag on her backpack with her name on it.

The restaurant has tanks of live fish that can be chosen for your dining enjoyment. So we had a look at the fish, watched the man in the kitchen cutting up roasted chicken, she played peek a boo and then she gave me some big hugs and fell asleep on my shoulder. Somehow I was able to carry her and the food back and plop her in the crib for what is now going on a 2 hour nap. I feel like I need one too.

Post script: There is a juice here that I love. It is wild Jujube fruit juice. It is a little tart and kind of like cherries. I must drink about 40 oz every day. It is supposed to be good for your health and digestion.
