I wanted a jacket to bring to China that was the type with different removable layers so I could use it in diffrent configurations depending on the weather. So I went to LL Bean and bought one during their great after Christmas sale. When I was looking through the clearance coats, a sales woman came to assist me. I told her what I wanted, she grabbed a coat off the rack and handed it to me. It was 50% off and, like a typical guy, I just took it without really trying it on.
The coat got packed for the trip.
The other day we were walking around Beijing and it started getting colder. So I proceeded to try to zip up my jacket, but when I reached for the zipper, I found that it was reversed. First I thought, huh, this zipper is broken, then, hmm, this coat is designed to zipper opposite because it is convertible, but, in the end I had to face reality. I had a woman's jacket. That would also explain why I needed an extra large.
