On day 2, she answered to Nan Yu, but after lunch I tossed a couple Beatrix's at her. To my shock and amazement, she responded every time. We had informed the foster family and orphanage of what we would name her, and I think they used Beatrix leading up to the adoption day.
Other breakthroughs included her giving me, what I want to believe, were hugs, falling asleep on my shoulder while I was waiting for our lunch take-out, allowing me to feed her from my plate/chopsticks, asking for food from me, coming to me to ask for help putting a straw in her milk and to help put her shoes on, using the potty we got at the store, coming to me for protection when she was being cautious about bubbles Olivia was blowing in the playroom and from the other kids, (she would hold onto me and after making a quick foray into the bubbles, would run back to me for protection), and pointing to Jennifer when we ask where is mama and looking to me when asked where is baba (daddy in Chinese)
She laughs, she giggles, she plays, she makes eye contact, she eats well, naps, and follows simple directions in our cave-mandarin. It really is going better than we expected or had the right to expect.
Next up- physical exam and getting her a passport.
Thursday we will go to her orphanage and see her finding spot.
Finding spot?
ReplyDeleteSo, after the paperwork of the morning, is the adoption final now?
It sounds like she is sliding into your world with gusto. Makes sense to me, because your world is awesome. I'm sure it will get rocky when you remove her from everything she's known but I'm so glad she's thinking of you in terms of parents.
Congrats again!
Wow,,What a beautiful little girl..I am so excited. I keep saying that but this is something i have always wanted to do,,hence, I am so enjoying the wonderous little love added to your family.
